Dan NEWTON is no doubt Brittany’s leading independent property agent specialising with English speaking market, having been recognised as starting the British market in Central Brittany back in 1986 and being one of  the first British fully bilingual residents to receive a French “carte professionelle” license in Brittany. With over 20 years in real estate, he covers the Morbihan, Finistère, Côtes d’Armor and the Ille-et-Vilaine departments. Although concentrating on the Morbihan and the southern half of Cotes d’Armor.

From 1987 to 1996 he worked as an "intermediary between notary’s and foreign buyers”, a sort of notary’s commercial agent for Foreign buyers. For which he was recognized by the University of Brittany in a thesis by Ronan Le Delezir (a Breton geographer), as having started the foreign market in central Brittany.

From 1996 he worked for different real estate agencies, from simple negotiator, senior manager, and then branch manager, to finally get his professional license in 2006. Amongst some of the things he introduced to the Breton real estate business was adding photo’s to the small ads in the local papers, something which is standard practice these days.

He was also one of the first agencies to have a website with listings of properties in English & French.

He also goes against the grain of French agents by sending out complete details of properties to clients, some thing that most of the French agents believe to be “anti-commercial”.

The latest project, planned for early 2010 is the introduction of 360° photos and eventually complete virtual tours of properties, live on the web site. Another technique which is well known in other countries, but as of yet is pretty well unheard of in France and completely non-existent in Brittany.
